It's the Simple Things

Oh, I was all that and a bag of chips. 21, just out of college and the first car that I bought with my own cold, hard cash. Look at that automotive perfection (gag). Yes friends, that's the 1990 Geo Storm, or as I like to call it, the "Stylin' Storm." (or on my even dorkier days, "The Jammin' Geo")

So in this season of thankfulness, I'd like to take a moment to remember the good old days and be thankful for the little things in life that I now normally take for granted.

1. I am thankful for intermittent wipers. While driving the sexy storm in a light mist, I would have to manually turn the wipers on....off....on....off....you get the drift. There were only 2 modes of wipers on this beauty - on and off - there was nothing in between.

2. I am thankful for cup holders. Apparently the manufacturers of the Geo assumed that the drivers of this particular model were either a)camels or b)people who want to sue McDonalds for the hotness of their coffee because they are forced to hold said coffee in their lap.

3. Finally, I am thankful for back seats that actually seat real people over 2 feet tall (without a booster) without hitting their heads on the decorative and streamlined sloped back window.

The scariest part? I had that little car for 10 years! It was pretty zippy!!

So what are some simple things that you're grateful for?

The car that I had in high school was a Ford Festiva. Remember those? Your car was like two of mine! But to me, it was mine and it was the greatest little car in the world. It even had a fancy stripe down the side. I thought that was the greatest!
I am now thankful for the Super Mini Van that I made the final payment on a year ago. I am also thankful for the three little munchkins that I drive around in it.
I just found your blog and I think it's great.

My first car was a little silver Subaru. I always wanted a Mustang in high school, but ended up with a white Chrysler Laser with a sunroof for a year (my dad leased it through his business...it was pretty snazzy back in 1987.)

I am grateful for plans with friends on Saturday night and that it's warm enough outside to open the windows right now! And for the absolutely gorgeous maple tree down the road, on the corner. It looks almost fluorescent orange!

LOVE it...my 1st car was a brand new...ultra white Hyndai Excel hatchback with lovely blue vinyl interior. LOLOL I quickly upgraded to a Pontiac Sunbird SE with a sunroof and every possible option you could get on a Sunbird. I drove the socks off that car and loved it...then I moved on to the land of Volvos! My Dh had a red Pontiac Feiro...now that was coolio.

Your list of things to be thankful for was funny. My first car was not nearly so nice. A 1969 PL510 four door Datsun. It was an automatic so it had absolutely no power. I use to have to get a good run at hills just to make it over at a decent speed. The paint was faded and the back tires were studded snow tires with the studs worn off. It was NOT a chick magnet. It's a wonder I ever won my wife over with that thing.

Hilarious. I am thankful that I no longer drive a chevy cavalier or a toyota tercel They were both red which I thought made them look pretty snazzy...Ick.

Love it! or first car was a 1980 chevrolet station wagon- baby blue, mind you-that had seen several years of family road trips. After several scrapes and bruises, it was ceremoniously handed over to us, where it was christened "the dragon wagon"

blessings,
